Can you epoxy over a laminate snap lock floor?

csvegoe asked:

We’re installing laminate snap lock throughout our house and thought we could use an extra layer of protection in the four seasons room. Can you pour an epoxy over the top of it? Reason being, we worry about water and mud on the floor on a daily basis. I’ve seen the “paper” layer lift on laminate and would like to prevent that.

I personally wouldn’t bother putting your laminate snap lock floor in the four seasons room and just have the floor that is already there epoxied. It will cost extra money to put the laminate floor down to just cover it up with epoxy. I’d say just get an epoxy floor in your four seasons room rather than covering it with epoxy paint. There are tons of types, colors, textures, patterns, etc that you can have on your floor with epoxy. If you live in the new england or new york area I know people that do epoxy floors and can give you contact information if you need it.

I agree with the previous poster. It’s unnecessary to do both. The epoxy alone will take care of business. It’s best to use a waterborne, 2-part epoxy. I’m a contractor, and I have a great source, if you’re interested. It’s the most expensive coating available, but it’s fantastic.
