a portfolio is a 3 ring binder..If u go to a big box store office supply (staples) they will gladly help you and assist in showing you various ways to do what you are trying to accomplish
If your applying for a creative position like graphic design, photography etc. Do not use a 3 ring binder. You will be shown the door rather quickly. Mount your pieces to a heavy art board and put them into a nice clean box. The size is up you. Be creative. Check out for some great cases.
