I possess a liquid glass that I bought back in the mid-90s at a local craft store. I don’t think that the company that is named on the side of the box is still around, i.e., I couldn’t find it on the web. But what it is, is a clear, polymer liquid (made from mixing 2 bottles together) that florists use to make fake water in a clear vase. I bet someone still makes such a product and you’d find it in the floral section of Michael’s Craft Store or a similar craft supply store. This medium differs from decoupage in that you can encase 3-dimensional objects like coins or shells. I don’t think that you can do that with traditional decoupage.

P.S.–I never tried the product that I have. I thought it was cool so I bought it. :)

The technique is called “decoupage” (dek-o-pawj)
You can buy the material at hobby stores. Some folks use just plain ol resin.

I am pretty sure you are looking for decoupage. I use to do this craft. It is neat. You can do it on almost anything! I have made lampshades, trivets, frames, light switch frames, etc..
    Good Luck! It’s fun!!
